 Still “Under Construction”

While it has been some time since I dressed up (or down) in my old construction outfit, we still remain a church that is under construction.  Many things continue to happen in and around the building.  We have paid off our debt on the roof repairs, thanks to the many who have given so generously to the Capital Needs Campaign, and we have purchased our new sign and by the time you read this it will be in St. Louis getting ready to be delivered here by Friday the 6th.  We are still collecting for the CNC, but are well on our way to having the sign paid off as well.  The many changes of rooms and space use that we have made over the past several months continue to be tweeked as we find more and creative uses of space, and some of the challenges that they may bring.

More importantly though is that we are continuing to be transformed on the inside.  This season of Lent I would like for you to consider the following:  Instead of giving your New Year’s Resolution 2.0 for Lent, let’s try to put something aside and then fill that space with more time with God.  It is as simple as five less minutes of television that is filled with five more minutes of reading the Bible.  Or, perhaps, ten less minutes on the internet that is filled with prayer time.  Ultimately, what I am asking is that over this season you practice a new discipline, or reinvigorate an old one with more dedication and time.  And yes, this is the same idea as going on a diet and truly changing your eating habits, or starting into a new workout routine.  The effects are only made life changing if you change how you are doing those things.  In the same way, time with God is only fulfilling if you are making a true life change to spend more dedicated to your faith.

Like so many things in life, even a few minutes are difficult to give, but I know there is something out there that each of you can handle doing just a little less.  May you be blessed in all you do, and live a new life that is in Jesus Christ.  Blessings and Peace.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff
